NBA fans do not need an introduction about how competitive Michael Jordan is. The six-time champion wants to win at everything no matter the cost and he made sure he did everything he could to give him an advantage. That sometimes included him resorting to cheating as well. Jordan once infamously cheated during a card game with his college teammate’s mother no less. So when he was spending $20 million on a golf course, the billionaire made sure it was built to his strengths.

While it can’t be deemed cheating, it was definitely built to give him an advantage over his opponents and even pro golfers. PGA golfer Rickie Fowler recently talked about Jordan’s exclusive golf club The Grove XXIII.

Michael Jordan gave himself an advantage

As per reports from Insider, Rickie Fowler recently talked about the golf club The Grove XXIII during a podcast with Golf.com. He revealed why pro golfers call it the “Slaughterhouse XXIII” and why Michael Jordan has an advantage. Fowler explained that the golf course is designed in such a way that long hitters hit their drives into narrower fairways and short hitters like MJ drive into much wider sections.

“The shorter you hit it, the wider it is,” Fowler told Golf.com. “He can basically hit driver on all the par 4, par 5s. And if I want to hit driver, I have to kind of put it into a bit of a tighter spot. I can obviously play back if I want, but that becomes a little bit of a disadvantage, especially if it’s a hole where he’s getting a stroke on.”

He added that he has to give the Chicago Bulls legend 10 shots during a round.

Interestingly, the five-time NBA champion was once banned from a golf club for his fashion choice. As per reports, Jordan was banned from La Gorce Country Club in Miami for wearing cargo pants. The Country Club requires golfers to wear a collared shirt and Bermuda shorts while playing. MJ was given a chance to change his outfit, but, but he declined. Now, he doesn’t have to worry about his clothes when playing in his golf club.

Jordan was caught cheating while playing cards

A college teammate of Michael Jordan once hilariously revealed an interesting incident that happened during a game of cards. During a casual game of cards with the teammates’ mother, the five-time champion resorted to cheating to win the game. The teammate could not believe Jordan would do something like that in a card game against his mother. However, that is how competitive MJ is.

Moreover, this is just one of many instances where MJ’s competitive spirit came to the fore. Some might say that was too much. Similarly, some might argue that the golf course gives him an unfair advantage. Well, that is how he is. All he cares about is winning, especially when it comes to games and sports, be it an elderly woman or a pro golfer, Jordan wants to win.
