The Boston Celtics beat the Miami Heat 134-121, pushing their season record to 18-4. And despite great performances from Jaylen Brown and Malcolm Brogdon, it was undoubtedly a Jayson Tatum show through and through. Tatum went off against the Heat and really put on a show with the presence of British royalty in the house. Furthermore, it seems Kevin Durant and NBA fans picked up on that too.

The Heat was a bit short-handed as Victor Oladipo and their leading scorer Jimmy Butler were both ruled out for the contest against the Celtics. But by the looks of it, it didn’t seem like it would’ve mattered with the way Jayson Tatum was playing.

Kevin Durant is in agreement with the royal couple

Tatum had a season-high performance against the Miami Heat. He went off for a massive 49-point game and had 11 rebounds as well to make it a double-double. It seemed as if Tatum wanted to show Prince William and Kate Middleton who the main guy is on the Celtics.

However, the royal couple did not get a warm welcome from Boston fans as they booed the two when they were displayed on the jumbotron. Which was then followed by ‘USA’ chants on top of it.

As Prince William and Kate Middleton saw greatness unfold by the 24-year-old All-Star, the camera crew caught Prince William telling Middleton, “He’s very good.” The two seemed to be in agreement with Kevin Durant, who also took notice of Tatum’s monstrous performance.

And rightfully so, seeing the hot start Tatum had in the first quarter. One fan tweeted, “Well Tatum was a royal pain in the a** tonight, so yea.” While another fan commented, “Most British reaction ever.”

Here are some more reactions from NBA Twitter:

Jayson Tatum was downright near-perfect in the first quarter of the game, missing only one shot and notching 16 points right away. He still was perfect from beyond the arc, going 4-4 from the three-point line.

Multiple records set by Tatum in win over Miami

JT was 8-12 from beyond the arc for the game and shot 15-25 from the field. There arguably wasn’t a time in the whole game that Tatum decided to let up and have the Heat carry the momentum of the game. Not only that, Tatum became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 900 three-pointers before the age of 25.

And if that wasn’t enough, Tatum also became the first player in NBA history to record multiple games with 45+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 8+ threes.

Jaylen Brown assisted with 26 points as well, and even Malcolm Brogdon decided to follow in the footsteps of Tatum. He notched 21 points in the 26 minutes he played, going 5-7 from deep as well.

The Boston Celtics suffered defeat in last year’s NBA Finals at the hands of the Golden State Warriors. But having a look at the young core that the Celtics’ front office has put together, it is safe to say that the future of the Celtics is arguably in very safe hands.
