Celtics vs Wizards marked the night in TD Garden to decide who would get to face the Nets in the first round of the playoffs. At one point in the great battle, the Wizards led the scoreboard by two points until the first half. However, a crucial 24-9 comeback from the Celtics in the first seven minutes of Q3 turned the tide. Eventually, the Celtics won the night 118-100 and cemented their #7 rank.

Jayson Tatum unleashed hell on the Wizards who struggled big-time from the perimeter. Although there is no proof of this, it appeared as though the Wizards tanked it in the third quarter and didn’t show the grit that they had earlier shown towards the season end.

For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum alone enjoyed a 50-point night while the Wizards’ entire starting line-up put up a meager 55 combined points. Jaylen Brown’s absence didn’t seem to have hurt the Celtics even a bit as they marched with great efficiency from every end. This extraordinary performance from the Greens made Twitter go bonkers. What went wrong with the Wizards?

After 33 minutes of play, the Wizards were 1/14 (overall 3/21) from the three-point range. By then, Bradley Beal (5) and Russell Westbrook (3) had combined for eight missed attempts from downtown. Add to this the seven missed attempts from Davis Bertans and it was a recipe for failure against a team that was easily shooting over 33%.

Also, by the end of Q3, the score stood at 90-80 in the Celtics’ favor, mostly because the C’s had endured 8 turnovers by that point, as opposed to the Wizards’ 16. Starting guard Raul Neto (playing restricted minutes after missing two games) going scoreless was another hit to the franchise. It was also a loss for the fans who wanted a Russell Westbrook vs James Harden/Kevin Durant in round 1. Now, they’ll be up against a scary Pacer who demolished the Hornets with a 144-point night.
