It seems as if a curse has befallen the Brooklyn Nets. The team just can’t catch a break so far this season. Just when things were starting to look up for Kevin Durant and co., another key player seems to go down with an injury. The Brooklyn Nets are currently on a three-game winning streak as Ben Simmons got sidelined with yet another injury.

This is the first winning streak the Nets have had this season. The squad was finally back together after a couple of tumultuous weeks surrounding the Kyrie Irving saga.

More bad news for Kevin Durant and the Nets

And now Ben Simmons is set to miss time due to a muscle strain in his leg. Simmons had been dealing with constant nagging injuries, specifically to his knee this year. It is unfortunate since the three-time All-Star was finally getting into his groove with his new team, the Brooklyn Nets.

Fans on the other hand showed no mercy to the injured star. One fan tweeted, “Boy trade value in the toilet. Glad we didn’t listen to….nvm.” While another fan commented, “The fact that this dude is getting praised for putting up Draymond numbers is hillarious”.

Here are some more reactions from NBA Twitter:

Though Simmons hasn’t been putting up All-Star numbers, he was still contributing good numbers for the team and looked set to finally make his mark on the franchise.

Ben Simmons won the Rookie of the Year award in 2018 as well. But it seems as if since he has come to Brooklyn, the 6’10″ point guard has lost his edge to be aggressive in the ball game.

The Australian holds a certain height and weight advantage over other point guards in the NBA. But whenever he penetrates the paint, he seemingly looks to pass the ball to his teammates instead of trying to finish the play himself.

Simmons had a run of a good couple of games recently, but he only managed to score a mere 2 points in total in his last two games combined. And now he will likely be missing a substantial amount of time due to another injury to his leg.

Ben Simmons was supposed to fill in the gap that James Harden left when he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. But it has been mostly Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving so far for the Nets. Furthermore, Seth Curry had a breakout game against the Portland Trail Blazers recently.
