The Phoenix Suns have proven their worth in the NBA playoffs so far. Despite having arguably the toughest path to the Conference Finals, Devin Booker and his boys have not failed to deliver!

The Suns unceremoniously knocked out both the Western Conference finalists from the last post-season in back-to-back rounds. And while Chris Paul has been nursing an injured shoulder since Game 1 of the Lakers series, it clearly hasn’t affected the Point God’s skills.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania broke the news today that – “Chris Paul has been indefinitely sidelined, owing to health and safety protocols.”

This setback comes as an enormous blow to the Suns, who consider the 36-year-old Point God to be their leader. Paul was riding the waves this season, averaging 16.9pts/4.5reb/8.9ast with many backing his case for MVP! Even though his stats may look average, his impact on a Suns team, who were below .500 last season, has been monumental. And while he lost out on the MVP, he is clearly on the path to achieving his biggest goal – a championship.

What’s next for Paul and Phoenix?

The Booker and Paul duo, ranked among the top duos this regular season, are wheeling Phoenix to the second seed in the western conference powerhouse. Monty Williams, Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton, and CP3 deserve all the props, love, and respect they have received. The Suns, who went 8-0 in the bubble playoff miss last season, now find themselves in the WCF awaiting the winner of the Clippers v/s Jazz series, currently tied at 2-2.

Chris Paul is a player who plays with his heart on his sleeve. Even though history has been unkind to the 36-year-old, the story for this season has not been written just yet! Hence, while the number of days that CP3 will miss is still unknown, the Suns will have their fingers crossed to hope that the other semi-final series goes on for 7 games till Sunday. This would give Paul a buffer period to clear COVID protocols and take mid-court with his team, come Game 1 of the conference finals.
