Brittney Griner Pens Heartbreaking Letter to President Joe Biden Amid Detention in Russia

Brittney Griner is one of the best WNBA players of all time. Standing at a whopping 6’9″, the Phoenix player towers over everyone. She is one of the biggest names in the WNBA. However, for the past four months, Phoenix Mercury Center has been detained in Russia. And now, she reached out to the USA President Joe Biden asking for his help to be free.
In February, the Pheonix Mercury traveled to Russia to play games. Brittney was among the group who landed at the Sheremetyevo International Airport in Russia. However, that was the last time anyone saw Griner roam in the outside world. The airport officials detained Griner for carrying vape cartridges with hashish oil. Since that day, the seven-time All-Star center has been in a Russian prison.

Now, Brittany reached out to the highest authority to help her come back home. She sent a letter to USA President Joe Biden asking him to do everything in his power to bring her back.

Brittany Griner reaches out to Joe Biden
The situation with Brittany has turned worse with time. After the initial arrest, Griner is yet to return to the United States. But she has got support from all directions. The NBA and the WNBA have been loud throughout the fight to bring Griner back home. The Boston Celtics even wore t-shirts to show support for Brittany. However, while they can spread awareness, help should come from someone with authority. Hence, Brittany wrote to the President himself.
In a heartfelt letter addressed to Joe Biden, Griner asked him to do anything possible to bring her back home. She wrote, “…as I sit here in a Russian prison, alone with my thoughts and without the protection of my wife, family, friends, Olympic jersey, or any accomplishments, I’m terrified I might be here forever”

The situation with Griner is really difficult, as she is now going through criminal trials. In addition, communication isn’t easy for Brittany either. She has to write her response on a piece of paper before sending it out. Moreover, all her messages and communications go through a thorough check by the Russian authorities. Likewise, Brittney Griner is going through one of the toughest times one can imagine as her detention has already been extended four times.

Her team, the WNBA, and NBA are all working their hardest to bring the 2-time DPOY back home. However, with US President being involved, his position to come back will only become stronger. And at the end of the day, all that matters is Brittany returns home safely and quickly.
