Brittney Griner’s Wife Cherelle Calls Upon Us President Joe Biden to Bring Back ‘Trapped’ Prisoner After Bribery Saga: “11 Months Too Long”

Love her or hate her, there is no denying that Brittney Griner‘s release from her exile in Russia has shed light on the plight of numerous American prisoners serving jail time abroad. The Phoenix Mercury star’s wife, Cherelle Griner, played an important role to keep the administration on its toes during Griner’s imprisonment, and that eventually led to her wife’s return. Although it has been over three months since Griner’s release, her wife is still fighting hard for other American prisoners trapped overseas.
Recently, she shed light on the case of Eyvin Hernandez, an American citizen. He is allegedly being held unfairly in Venezuela.

Although her wife is back home and slowly transitioning back to her old life, Cherelle is still very vocal about other prisoners held against their will unfairly in overseas countries. Recently, the law school graduate used her social media platform to support the cause of Eyvin Hernandez. He is currently serving time in Venezuela in a notorious prison.
It has been 11 months since Hernandez has been in captivity. Cherelle shared a heart-wrenching post on her Instagram story highlighting the plight of Hernandez and his family. The post read, “11 months. 11 months too long.”

Hernandez was on a two-week vacation in Colombia. While traveling close to the Colombia-Venezuela border, Venezuelan officials asked Hernandez to pay a bribe which he refused. The bribe was to let him pass over to Venezuela which he didn’t intend to do.
Upon his refusal, he was arrested along with 11 others. Hernandez allegedly tried to enter Venezuela. Therefore, he was arrested and there is still no clarity about his release. Interestingly, Cherelle Griner had made a plea to the authorities on her Instagram just days before supporting the cause of Eyvin Hernandez.

Following the Phoenix Mercury star’s release from her Russian prison, Cherelle made a brave speech at the White House. With Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in attendance, Griner pledge to bring every American prisoner back home.
She said, “I will gladly speak on her behalf and say that BG and I will remain committed to the work of getting every American home.” Interestingly, she had specifically mentioned Paul Whelan. The former Marine is serving time in Russia and was touted to be back home along with Griner. However, he still remains in Russia and a solution for his case is yet to be found.
