The Los Angeles Lakers failed to make it to the postseason after a horrendous 2021-22 regular season. With fans putting pressure on the board and players, and the arrival of a new coach, the LeBron James-led franchise is looking to make big changes this season.

The signing of Patrick Beverly was lauded by fans and analysts around the world. Moreover, the team has recently re-signed one of its former stars.

It is none other than Dennis Schroder. The 29-year-old star was a free agent and played for the Houston Rockets last season. Interestingly enough, Schroder was part of the Lakers during the 2020-21 season. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic: “Free agent guard Dennis Schroder plans to sign a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers have arguably done good business to add some depth to their backcourt this off-season. Firstly, they acquired veteran Patrick Beverly and they have now re-signed Dennis Schroder. The former Laker has been signed to a one-year, $2.64 million contract, according to reports.

As the above reactions suggest, there have been mixed reactions regarding the singing. Interestingly enough, the relationship between the franchise and Schroder ended when the German star turned down a massive offer. According to reports, Schroder turned down a 4-year extension in the range of around $80 million.

LeBron James himself welcomed his former teammate back to the Lakers. Taking to Instagram, James posted a story with a picture of himself and Schroder while writing, “Yessir!! So damn happy to have you back!! You’re like that! LFG!!!

Much like last season, LeBron James will undoubtedly be vital for the team’s success next season. Despite turning 38 by the end of next season, the four-time NBA champion is still one of the best players in the league.
