When you are the highest-paid center in the league’s history, it is obvious that you would remain under constant scrutiny. Every game and every move would be judged heavily by sports fans and analysts. Minnesota Timberwolves star Rudy Gobert recently became the primary target for fans and not for pleasing reasons. As if clashing heads with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal wasn’t enough, Gobert unwittingly embarrassed himself in the recent game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Rudy Gobert becomes a laughing stock for NBA fans

The Minnesota Timberwolves played against the Los Angeles Clippers on January 6 at Target Center. While the Timberwolves defeated the Clippers by 128-115, 3x NBA All-Star Rudy Gobert could not save himself from getting trolled mercilessly for his missed shot. In the fourth quarter, with just about seven minutes remaining, Gobert went for a layup with Clippers center Moses Brown hot on his heel.

While fans anticipated a successful shot, Gobert missed it in a spectacular fashion. The 3x NBA Defensive Player of the Year had the same disappointed look on his face that his teammates showed.

Rudy Gobert fires back at Shaquille O’Neal

While Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal repeatedly took digs at Rudy Gobert, the former Utah Jazz star had remained silent until he could no longer take it. Gobert reached his patience limit when Shaq made yet another comment on an episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq.

When the Lakers legend’s podcast co-host Anthony Adams told him that Gobert could hold him to about 12 points, Shaq fired back and said that he would only be able to do so for the first 3 minutes.

“12 points? Yeah, in the first three minutes. Let me tell you something, man. It?s against my religion for somebody to hold me one-on-one. I take that personally. I do,” the 4x NBA champion told Adams.
