The NBA season has moved onto its next stage as the new year begins. With this in mind, the teams struggling in the bottom half of the table need to work harder to keep hopes of playoff contention alive. Additionally, they also have to make sure that their star players aren’t unhappy and don’t want to leave the squad. The Toronto Raptors are trying to weather a similar storm. The top star of the Toronto side is demanding a contract like the one signed by a 22-year-old youngster in the Miami Heat. Fans went on a trolling spree as the news spread through the Internet.

Fans troll Fred VanVleet for outrageous NBA contract demands

Tyler Herro signed a four-year $130 Million contract with the Miami Heat on October 2022. Fred VanVleet is reportedly looking to replicate the contract or leave the team at the end of the season.?

In terms of what VanVleet will be looking for on the open market, the four-year, $130 million deal that Tyler Herro got last fall is expected to be the baseline,? reported TSN?s Josh Lewenberg. ?Officially, the Raptors don?t have to decide whether they?re going to be the team that gives it to him until July. Essentially, though, they?ve got to make that decision over the next five weeks, ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline, or they risk losing him for nothing.”

While the Raptors have to think twice before making the big decision about VanVleet’s future, fans didn’t waste any time trolling him.?

Here are some of the reactions.

Some fans had a lot of facts to back up their argument. Tyler Herro is a 22-year-old in significantly better form in a focused Heat team. The Heat are investing in their future, while the Raptors might not be ecstatic to give $130 Million to a star on the decline. Moreover, VanVleet has declined a four-year $114 Million contract already.

Herro averaged 20.7 points coming off the bench last year and has improved significantly as a starter. VanVleet, on the other hand, has a poor FG percentage according to his own standards, while averaging 18.8 PPG.?

The Raptors star has had a below-average season, scoring just 32.3% beyond the arc. Even with his underwhelming stats, he is quite important for the Toronto side.
