LeBron James went back to Cleveland in 2014 to give his hometown a championship. In 2016, LeBron took his teammates through a dramatic 4-3 win over the Golden State Warriors. He got his third ring in Cleveland, in one of the hardest-fought playoffs ever.

Since then, a lot has changed. Collin Sexton has become the new star in the Cavalier rafters. He has been the main guy for the Cavs since LeBron left for the Lakers. Essentially, the young duo of Darius Garland and Collin Sexton is what the Cavs have decided to invest in for their future.

With free agency going on the Cavs have made several moves. They are yet to give a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Colin Sexton. The reason behind this is the financial gap between the player and the franchise. Colin only played 11 games in the 2021-22 season as he was dealing with a left torn meniscus.

The news of Sexton being shopped around hit Twitter like a storm. Unsurprisingly, within hours fans started pouring in comments about Sexton and his future with the Cavaliers. The tweet that announced Sexton’s negotiation was posted by the NBA Central and garnered over 1700 likes.

Will Sexton depart from the Cavs like LeBron James?

No, Collin Sexton leaving Cleveland is not something the Cavalier nation has feared just yet. It is believed that negotiations are underway and an agreement will be reached soon. However, other teams have started showing interest in the 23-year-old guard.

An executive from an opposing team said, “He has no market.”

Further, fans took to the Twitter comment section to share their two cents on the matter. In addition, they were shocked to hear that a young guard who is a natural scoring talent has no place in the market. Here are some of the reactions:

According to reports, Sexton will play the next season at a salary of $7.2 million, which is very low for guards that fall in his bracket. He will look for more lucrative offers when his free agency is unrestricted.

Is Collin Sexton close to pulling a ‘Decision’

This will not be the first time a homegrown star will look to take his talents elsewhere. In 2010, LeBron James chose to leave his beloved Cleveland and take his talents to Miami. He then went on to win several championships with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

Now, Sexton has not established himself enough in the league to be able to decide where he wishes to go. It is likely that he stays with the Cavs. Regardless, the ‘young bull’ will look to increase his worth in the market this season. He has certainly impressed his senior Cavalier LeBron James with his skills.

Cleveland let go of guard Kevin Porter Jr. for next to nothing. It is likely that they hold on to their star duo ‘SexLand’ for a while. Moreover, Colin will be returning from an injury and this would finally put Cleveland at full capacity this year to test their roster. Nevertheless, the market for Sexton has been a shock for everybody in the NBA!
