Russell Westbrook has been a talking point all season. In fact, Russell Westbrook has been in the headlines all his career because of the kind of player he is and whatnot. But this season he is in the headlines because of the things he would not want to be.
Westbrook is having a poor season with the Lakers. He is way off the mark and nowhere near his own standards. The Lakers are struggling and honestly, Russ does not seem to be the solution.

Another reason for Russ being in the headlines recently is his rivalry with Patrick Beverley. The spat started when Russ made remarks about Patrick’s game, stating that he just wasn’t good enough. Now that Russ is struggling this season, Pat Bev took his chance to belittle Westbrook. He tweeted and also addressed the whole story on a podcast.
NBA fans react ferociously after Patrick Beverley’s claims
Patrick Beverley featured on The Old Man and the Three with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter. He talked about his rivalry with Russ. His comments about how Russ ruined his career sent NBA fans on Twitter to a frenzy.
“He damaged my career. Coaching staffs and players, fans, they looked at me way different. They looked at me like, 'You know what, he don't play defense. He just yells and run around,' and held onto that, and some people still do.”

Bruh you make 13mil per season and average 8 points per game for your career. Sounds like you are damaging your teams salary cap.

The nigga literally doved at Russ knees causing him to miss the rest of the playoffs and start his injury history. Also that was Russ first time ever missing a game from high school to the nba(counting all regular season and postseason games). Nobody wants to hear this shit

What career ? 😭

You ruined his best shot at a title and made him miss 9 months of action bc he needed 3 knee injuries to get his knee right again and he’s been having yearly offseason knee procedures ever since bc you went for a steal during a timeout? pic.twitter.com/Jr7rdmCUba

And you just know Pat Bev intentionally injured him too.

Yeah it’s not like you dove underneath him and tore his meniscus or anything

Patrick Beverly is what we called a "hacker" back in the day. No offensive skills or ingenuity to score, but who would use violence to stop you from scoring. Dude, belongs in the NBA of the 50's and 60's.

Patrick Beverley jumps on the opportunity to take his shot at Russell Westbrook
Amidst a poor season from Russ West’s standards, Patrick made salty remarks towards the Lakers man. He made sure he did not let this chance go waste to put across his comments in this rivalry.
I remember when somebody said all I do is run around and I trick y’all 😂 well my boy is The Real Magician this year.
— Patrick Beverley (@patbev21) February 10, 2022
He talked on the podcast about how much he held on to Russell’s remarks about him.
Russell Westbrook: “Pat Bev trick y’all, man, like he playing defense. He don’t guard nobody, man. He just running around, doing nothing.” Made sure to note that James Harden scored 47 tonight.

“I call that perfect timing, divine timing,” Beverley said of his comment. “You know people looked at me differently? People around the NBA, coaches, players, like after that people were just taking the ball just going at me,” said Patrick.
“People really looked at it like, ‘Yeah, maybe this m*****f***** don’t play defense. The only thing he does is run around.’ So, obviously, I had one bad game. ‘Oh, Russ was right. I knew this m*****f*****; the only thing he did is run around and stuff like that.’ You know, it’s no fun when the rabbit gots the gun now.”
Many fans believe that Russ did not say anything that was not true. This season, Pat Bev averages 9.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game, which is in fact slightly better than his career average. Whereas Russ West has averaged 18.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game, which is below his standards considerably.

Both Timberwolves and Lakers are in a situation that would make them compete in the play-in tournament. It would be an interesting clash if the two teams happen to play against each other and we would get to see Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley face off.
