The Boston Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons in seven games to reach the NBA Finals. Bird gave an amazing performance with the NBA legend becoming the deciding factor in crucial games such as game five. His important steal won them game five of the Finals series.

Meanwhile, Rodman was asked about his thoughts on the Celtics legend and the Pistons star decided to blurt out some bizarre things. He called Bird ?overrated in a lot of areas? ?and undeserving of 3 MVP awards compared to Magic Johnson.

The five-time NBA Champion was a spectator to Larry Bird?s genius, as the Celtics legend went to the NBA Finals. The Rebounding King obviously wasn?t happy with the closely fought ECF, as the Pistons lost in the last game of the series.?

Even without social media, his words echoed throughout NBA fandom in 1987, and no one appreciated the disrespect to Bird. Although Magic Johnson was the league MVP in 87?, Bird lead the scoring and rebound charts for the playoffs.

Rodman realized that it was a mistake years later, blaming his unfiltered thoughts on his young age. The NBA legend later apologized to Bird for his insensitive comments, which many thought were racially motivated.

Although Rodman?s comments were uncalled for, the trash-talking wasn?t just his work. Bird famously taunted the Pistons coach that he?d drop 60 points with Rodman guarding him. However, claiming that Bird won his MVPs because he is white might be a little too far even for Rodman.
