The situation of WNBA star Brittney Griner has not changed. The Russian court had sentenced to 9 years in jail for drug possession. While she was in jail, she was allowed to speak for the first time to the media. It was in July, before the sentencing. The two-time Olympic Gold medalist used this chance to send an encouraging and sweet message to her wife, Cherelle Griner.

Griner held up two pictures of her wife while speaking to a reporter. She also wished Cherelle “good luck on the bar exam.” The couple married in June 2019.

One day after the couple announced Johnson’s pregnancy, Griner filed for an annulment. She claimed that she was under pressure to marry Johnson and she was not involved in the IVF. She also accused Johnson of texting her ex-boyfriend. However, later she revised it, stating she was involved in the IVF. Johnson said that Griner was the one who picked the sperm donor. This left them both to file for divorce.

Glory Johnson also said that she couldn’t trust anyone else because of her relationship with Griner. She is now playing for Beşiktaş in the Turkish Super League. From 2012 to 2019, she was playing for the Tulsa Shock/Dallas Wings in the WNBA.
