Every once in a while, athletes take a much-deserved break from all the intense practice sessions and the pressure of the regular season. While many like to get away to some exotic locations by the beach, some people such as Candace Parker apparently like the cabin life. The WNBA star is currently cooped up with her family in Gatlinburg but took some time out to have a video chat with NBA analysts Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson.

Candace Parker disappoints Charles Barkley

In a recent episode of The Steam Room, hosts Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson talked about cabin life with their guest star Candace Parker. Upon acknowledging the fact that Parker was in some ‘cabin in the woods’ at the moment, Barkley asked her if she was hunting out and cooking her dinner. In response, the Chicago Sky player replied that she had simply brought a few marinated chickens from Kroger. Barkley then suggested she go out in the backyard and hunt down some animals and put up a barbeque instead of encouraging her to ‘live the life’.

Johnson then chimed in saying that he once saw a wild turkey in his backyard. This led to the NBA analyst’s next question for Parker. Johnson asked her if she had ever bought bird seed for the purpose of feeding birds in her neighborhood. When it seemed like Parker was about to give a positive answer, Barkley said, “Candace, don’t embarrass us black people.”

To Barkley’s dismay, the 36-year-old WNBA star showed them a jar full of birdseed. A disappointed Chuck told Parker, “Candace, you just embarrassed black people all over the United States.” In response, Parker simply said that she was doing ‘country stuff’ with her friends.

Parker’s former team defeats Georgia

On January 14, the Lady Vols played against Georgia at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. Vols defeated Georgia by 68-55 grabbing their seventh consecutive victory. Vols’ Rickea Jackson led the team scoring 23 points and seven rebounds. Tess Darby added 16 points, five rebounds, and one assist. Georgia forward Brittney Smith scored 14 points and Diamond Battles added 12 points in the losing game.
