Davis had been playing at the power forward position for the Lakers until last season. However, that isn’t his original position since AD played at center with the Pelicans. At his pure position, he is one of the best big men in the entire league and for good reason.

They announced that LeBron James and Anthony Davis would play in their original positions for this season. Which means LeBron shifts to power forward and AD to center. Looking at Davis playing center, Carmelo believes that gives an upper hand to the Lakers. He believes it adds a different dynamic to their team.
This is definitely true as Davis thrives as a big man. With skilled players now available to play power forward, there is no need for AD to fit into that position. Even though he put up 22 points and 7.9 rebounds as a power forward last season, being at the five helps the whole team out.

The main reason for this is his abundance of abilities. Anthony Davis is quick, he can finish lobs, he is a great post scorer and can handle the ball like a guard. His skill set at center is unrivaled and has huge potential on a roster such as the Lakers. This change could come in big for the purple and gold as they chase another title.
