The NBA is as much about playing hard as it is about finding the right teammates. LeBron James, for one, has had his way around knitting a winning squad. Be it his decisions to form a big three in Miami or getting back with the Cavs when the team had a tested duo, Bron always made smart moves.
Now as a Laker, the L-Train talked Carmelo Anthony into the team. A long-standing wait for the union finally came to end in offseason 2021. It was a win-win-win for Bron, Melo, and the Lake Show when the one-year deal became official.

Carmelo Anthony explained how his duo with LeBron James was inevitable
In a recent interview, the 37-YO Carmelo Anthony first reminisced how he met LeBron James as a 15-YO teen. Not many people can forget that St. Mary Fighting Irish vs Oak Hill Warriors game when the two went neck-to-neck. That night, a crazy Bron had scored an impressive 31-point double-double to help pull an upset.
Addressing the inevitability of their union, Melo expressed in his interview, “That journey itself, alongside somebody like LeBron, you can’t write that any better … It’s not just basketball though.”
Anthony added that there were moments where they discussed being teammates before, but maybe neither one was ready. Now they’re here. “Timing is everything."

How will this ‘LeMelo’ duo help the Lakers Nation?
Carmelo Anthony is coming off a great season with the Blazers, leading the bench. In fact, he played some big offensive nights when CJ McCollum was out of play. So now, the Lakers see him as a vital role player and someone who could help spread the floor. Melo can shoot that open ball and help the Lakers’ Big Three with some breathing space.

Plus, when the need be, Melo can use his frame to make some physical plays too. This will all end up off-loading LeBron and even give them the confidence to win games with one of the stars injured.
