Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have uplifted the Celtics to NBA relevancy since the Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen days in 2008.  However, the narratives surrounding them haven’t been consistent over the years. Incidentally, Tatum pointed out the same in a heartfelt admission while addressing recent success.

After a blowout win against the Timberwolves a few days ago, Tatum and Brown surpassed Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in the All-time duos’ list of most 30-point games together. Jordan and Pippen, who won six championships together, stand at 16 games. After another impressive win against the Houston Rockets last night, Tatum and Brown stand at 18 games.

The young duo’s surpassing of Jordan and Pippen brought forth a frenzy of comparisons by media and fans. However, Tatum wasn’t a fan of these comparisons. Moreover, he also called out the media and disapproved of their conflicting narratives surrounding him and Brown.

In last night’s post-game press conference, when asked about the comparisons, Tatum replied, “Last year y’all wanted to trade one of us, now you’re saying Mike and Scottie. We’re not as bad as you said but we’re not as good as Mike and Scottie.”
