Not only is the Round Mound of Rebound one of the icons of the game, but he is also a responsible family man and an established name in the media industry. The Phoenix Suns legend is 60 years old now, and he recently became a grandfather for the second time! Notably, Barkley has one daughter with his wife, Maureen Blumhardt.

Emotional Charles Barkley reveals the latest event in his life

Charles Barkley has multiple NBA accolades to his name along with two Olympic medals. However, it seems the greatest thing in his life happened outside the basketball court.

Barkley, or ‘Big Pops’ as he is currently known, became a grandfather for a second time. Interestingly, he revealed that the birth of his daughter’s newborn left him ‘shocked’.

Barkley said, “Until you have grandkids, you can’t even put it into words and when I see little Henry now, he’s 14 months. And now, my daughter and her husband shocked me and named little Charlie after me!”

Christiana Barkley’s newborn daughter was born recently, and she decided to honor her legendary father. The child is named Charlie Eliza after the 1993 NBA MVP.

“The greatest thing that has ever happened,” said the Phoenix Suns legend after he became a grandfather for the second time. Moreover, he also said, “When I hold those babies and they look up at me, there’s no better feeling in the world.”

Charlie Eliza’s birth comes 15 months after Christiana gave birth to her son, Henry. Interestingly, during The Steam Room podcast, Barkley revealed that watching young Henry walk and play around makes him really emotional.

There is absolutely no doubt that Charlie Eliza will be proud of her name once she grows up and realizes who she is named after. As for now, she only knows Charles Barkley as her ‘Big Pops’. However, the world knows him for many more reasons.

Barkley has 11 NBA All-Star nominations to his name along with the 1993 NBA MVP. Additionally, he was the 1987 Rebounding Champ and was the 1991 All-Star MVP as well. When Barkley retired, he averaged 22.1 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists.
