Of the two finalists, the Aztecs that had an underdog story to tell. Barkley, who is both famous and infamous for his unfiltered opinions, was quick to take sides in the final game. Contrary to what is expected from an analyst, the Round Mound of Rebound sided with the underdogs- the Aztecs. “I think will is going to win tonight. I’m going with the upset tonight. The Aztec nation,” proclaimed Barkley.

Sir Charles’ bold words, however, did not go down well with the plethora of UConn Huskies supporters gathered at the arena. With his support for the Aztecs, Barkley became a villain for the Huskies supporters. They went berserk and started to show their wrath by booing and giving thumbs-downs. A fan tweeted the footage of the entire episode and wrote “U Conn hates Charles Barkley”.

Disappointment for Charles Barkley

Despite garnering Chuck’s infamous support, the Aztecs were outsmarted by the mighty UConn Huskies. The UConn team vanquished the Aztecs 76-59 and seized their fifth National Championship title in style. Much to the dismay of Barkley and numerous underdog supporters, the Aztecs struggled to come close with the mightier Huskies in both the halves of the game.
