The Chicago Bulls franchise peaked during the Michael Jordan era in the 90s. The team fell into a slump ever since Jordan left, and is still struggling to gain a grip in the East. However, certain players are striving hard to restore the old shine back, and one of them is rookie Patrick Williams!

Williams was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft and has made an instant impression. The 19-year-old is carrying a fearless demeanor and has the potential to spearhead a franchise in the future.

Patrick Williams etches his name in Chicago Bulls history books

Patrick Williams is a special find for the Chicago Bulls. The combo forward has earned starting rights in his very first year in the league, and he’s putting up impactful performances after the other. Though Chicago is on a losing run, Williams and Zach LaVine have been the brightest performers so far.

The Bulls took on the Orlando Magic recently and lost by a four-point margin. LaVine top-scored for the losing team with 26 points, but the second name on the list was quite surprising. Rookie Patrick Williams went out and got 20 points to his name, which went down as a unique record!

With 20 points and seven rebounds against the Magic, Patrick Williams became the youngest ever Chicago Bulls player to score 20+ points in the game. It is indeed a glorious honor, considering the legends who’ve played for the franchise in the past.

Legends like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen scored 20+ points in their respective rookie seasons, but they were older than Patrick Williams when they achieved the feat. MJ was was 21 in his rookie year, while Pippen was 22.

Hence, this is indeed an achievement that should be massively celebrated by Patrick Williams. He can hold his head high for attaining the feat, but should also keep his focus and record more such games.

The Chicago Bulls are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference, and they really aren’t looking like playoff contenders. If Patrick Williams begins to contribute on the offense consistently, they would at least stand a chance.
