Chicago Bulls Star Expresses Regret Over Lack of Support for Deported World No.1 Novak Djokovic: “Everyone Else Got Scared”

Novak Djokovic will not be able to compete in the Australian Open as he was deported from the country after the immigration minister cancelled his visa after a drawn-out saga. Djokovic initially received the medical exemption for the Australian Open, but was unable to provide sufficient documents and was initially held at the airport. After his deportation, many athletes have expressed their opinions on social media. Recently, Bulls star Nikola Vucevic lamented the lack of support that Novak received.

Novak won’t be able to defend his title at the Australian Open, which has already started. His stance about vaccination has divided the sporting world with various athletes condemning his actions and many a few supporting him. As Novak stated, he is “extremely disappointed” with the decision, but will continue to obey and cooperate with it.

Nikola Vucevic of the Chicago Bulls took to Twitter and weighed in on the matter, saying, “What happened to Djokovic is just politicians using their power to show off and get extra followers.”

Continuing, he added. “Very sad how they treated a First Class Champion!”

In his second tweet regarding the same situation, he stated, “Also to me, the saddest thing in this whole Djokovic thing was that only two of his colleagues stood by his side, everyone else got scared… unbelievable.”

In addition to this, Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios replied to Vucevic’s tweet, saying: “I’m sorry. Wish we could of done more.” Kyrgios was surely one of the two colleagues mentioned by Nikola, as the Australian supported Novak from the beginning of the fiasco.
