CP3 couldn’t get going against Lakers
While the game is in a three-point era, Paul dominated the playoffs last season with his mid-range game. But against the Lakers, he picked up a right shoulder injury in Game 1 and was never the same. While speaking to his former Clippers teammate, JJ Reddick, he revealed how it was one of the craziest injuries he has had over his long NBA career.
Paul explained, “Dribbling, that’s what I do. Bubs, I would dribble and the ball wouldn’t come back up. And it was the scariest thing ever, like I would dribble, ‘Whoa, why am I losing the ball?’. So it was a shot that I hit and I literally grabbed it and I threw it. I threw it from the right elbow and it went in, and I like turned and looked at my brother and I was like, ‘I don’t know how the hell that just went in’.”

Paul further said he didn’t know why the Lakers even bothered guarding the veteran. Normally an efficient scorer, CP3 averaged just 9 points, 7.7 assists, and 3.5 rebounds on 38% shooting against the Lakers. Despite all that, the young motivated Suns were able to get through them in six games and further move into the playoffs.
Paul’s shoulder started feeling much better after that and he went on a tear. He ended the playoffs by averaging 19.2 points on almost 50% shooting last season. Chris Paul put on some monster performances for the Suns, including a 41 point explosion against his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers. Now, he is back leading them this season as they hold the best record in the NBA.
