Despite leading very different careers, Dwyane Wade and CP3 have developed a remarkable bond over the years. The duo started getting close during Paul’s initial seasons in the NBA. Wade even supported Paul and his Phoenix Suns during the 2021 Playoffs. Their friendship has stood the test of time for 18 years and counting.

Along with his picture with Chris Paul, he also blessed fans with a glimpse into his life. Dwyane Wade’s been hitting the gym and how! To balance it out, he’s been partying around as well. He also shared a selfie with his kids, hinting that he’s always ‘A father first’ like his bio says.

However, while attending the CAA Amplify Summit, he disclosed his daughter’s fear and how it made him rethink his role as a father.

Dwyane Wade’s daughter’s fear hit him hard

Dwyane Wade can still clearly remember coming home to see his daughter hiding in his wife’s arms, afraid to approach him. He recalled feeling shivers down his spine and questioning the upbringing he had given his child.

Zaya was hesitant and afraid when she confided in her father about her gender identity at the age of 12.  He said, ” And so I had to check myself… because maybe I ain’t what I think I am. I haven’t done what I think,” he admitted.

“I had to go look at myself in the mirror and ask myself: ‘Why was my child scared? Scared to tell me something about herself?’”

Dwyane Wade has always taken pride in being a “cool dad.” But Zaya’s worry highlighted a discrepancy between his ideas and the reality of their relationship. Wade acknowledged in an interview that this realization compelled him to reexamine his parenting style and address the issue of why his child felt reluctant to disclose something so personal.

However, after his epiphany, he is now working on it. After all, being a parent is a full-time job!
