Clippers’ Marcus Morris After Beating Joel Embiid’s 76ers and Anthony Davis’ Lakers: “Both of Them Teams Is Pretty Average”

The Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers are having quite the opposite seasons as expected. Everyone expected the 76ers to drop off since their All-Star Ben Simmons wasn’t going to be a part of the team anymore.
But instead, they are third in the east with Joel Embiid having another MVP level season. The Lakers, however, were expected to be one of the top teams in the league. But they are currently the 9th spot in the West and are 3 games below .500 mark. Their season has been hampered by injuries to star players.
The Los Angeles Clippers beat both of these teams in the last 2 weeks. They won 102-102 against the 76ers and 111-110 against the Lakers. The Clippers have been without their stars, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for a majority of the season, but they are fighting to stay afloat. They have had some memorable wins and they compete against every team.

Morris says both the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers are pretty average
Marcus Morris Sr, the power forward of the Clippers, had something to say about both these teams after their wins. The Clippers were without their star players, but the other teams were almost at full strength when they lost. He added, “I mean sh*t, both of them teams is pretty average from what I have seen. Like I don’t see them just being great teams.”
Asked about beating Sixers with Embiid and Lakers with AD and Russ all while without Kawhi and PG, Marcus Morris said Clips work hard from coaches to players: "I mean shit, both of them teams is pretty average from what I have seen. Like I don’t see them just being great teams."

To be fair, the Lakers were without their best player in LeBron James and the 76ers were without Seth Curry and Danny Green. So it would unfair to judge these teams without their whole squad. However, they both had more firepower than the Clippers and they did well to come up with the victory.

Morris credited a lot of their success to their coaching staff, who have been excellent even without their star duo. The Clippers are only 3 games off the fifth spot and PG and Kawhi are expected to return at some point in the season. This would make the Clippers instant contenders.

The Clippers are also making some moves in the trade market. They acquired Norman Powell and Robert Covington from the Portland Trail Blazers. This move was done with an eye on the future as Norman Powell is on a five-year deal and the Clippers have the bird rights for Robert. Even if PG and Kawhi end up not returning this season, the Clippers will feel like they have enough to compete in the playoffs and challenge for the title next season when the stars return.
