There is no doubt that 56-year-old Scottie Pippen was supremely underrated back in the day. At the moment, he seems to be spitting out all his frustration from the years gone by. In a series of comments as well as in his memoir, the 7-time All-star has taken down former teammate and one of the greatest of all-time, Michael Jordan. ‘Unguarded’ is a book on Pippen’s career, and all the shortcomings. According to co-author Michael Arkush, the book was never intended to target MJ in particular.

Over the past few weeks, Pippen has destroyed Jordan. During their playing days, this rift was never evident. In fact, the duo seemed to be very close to one another. But ‘Pip’ has recently dismissed all these assumptions, claiming that the pair was never really close. Additionally, he has termed the 18-time All-star as selfish and hypocritical. It is very unfortunate, considering Jordan even offered his 1997 Finals MVP award to the small forward. Yet, the Last Dance docu-series was the final nail in the coffin.

Co-author says Scottie Pippen’s memoir didn’t intend to hurt Michael Jordan

For those of you who have read the book, Unguarded presents vivid descriptions of Pippen’s teammates, and the incidents in his career. Playing for close to two decades, the 6-time NBA champion has been there and done that for many years. But Jordan’s selfishness never sat well with him. On the other hand, he has asserted that Jordan ruined basketball. These comments would’ve surely hurt his former Bulls teammate, although he hasn’t gone on record to talk about it yet.

On the contrary, co-author Michael Arkush believes that the memoir does nothing to target Jordan in particular. Contrarily, it just sets the record straight. In an interview with The Undefeated, the author spoke about his 15th piece of work – Unguarded. “Michael Jordan won one playoff game in his career when Scottie Pippen wasn’t there,” laid out Arkush. He asserted that although Pippen has always respected Jordan, the documentary misrepresented too many things. And Unguarded was Pippen’s way of setting things straight.
