One of the most heated exchanges in this tournament is the UNC Tar Heels vs the Duke Blue Devils. Moreover, they are meeting in this part of the season for the first time and it might be coach K’s last match!

Talking about the rivalry, former Duke alumni Jay Williams talked about how North Carolina ruined Coach K’s senior night. Williams said, “This is the biggest game in college basketball. When you think about it, biggest rivalry in sports, coach K’s last hurrah. Think about the series, Duke wins 50 games, Carolina has won 49, think about that gap, it’s so close. The fact that North Carolina ruined Coach K’s senior night, his last game ever at Cameron Indoor Stadium. North Carolina came in, and they won, they celebrated on the court.

He added, “There is nobody as a Duke fan that I wanna see more in the final four than North Carolina. To have Coach K in his last season win a national championship and go to North Carolina.” 

While the UNC Tar Heels defeated No. 15 Saint Peter’s to reach this stage, Duke got past a tough opposition in the form of No. 4 Arkansas.

Paolo Banchero is in red hot form averaging 17.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists for the Blue Devils. Moreover, he leads the team stats in both the points and rebounds departments.

On the other hand, Armando Bacot and Caleb Love have been essential for UNC’s victories. Bacot averages 16.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. Love ensured UNC gets past UCLA with a crucial three-pointer and he averages 15.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. (Source: ESPN)
