Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson’s close friend and comedian Rickey Smiley and his family recently got hit with a terrible loss. Comedian Rickey Smiley ended up losing his son Brandon Smiley, who passed away at the age of 32. Fans and friends offered condolences when Rickey announced his son’s death via an Instagram post. The Lakers legend and his wife, too, sent out their condolences during this challenging time for the Smiley family.

Rickey Smiley, who starred on ‘The Rickey Smiley Show’ has been devastated since the loss of his son. Though Smiley did not reveal the details of how his son died, it is understandable, given the circumstances.

Magic Johnson sends his condolences on behalf of his family

The 54-year-old actor and comedian was a father of five, and Brandon was his eldest son. Also, this was not the first time the Smiley family was struck with tragedy. In 2020, Rickey Smiley’s daughter was a victim of gun violence but was lucky enough to survive that incident.

Smiley’s close friend Magic Johnson went on to his official Twitter account to send out his respects and condolences on behalf of his wife and family.

Johnson tweeted, “Rickey Smiley’s son Brandon passed away today. Cookie and I are praying for Rickey, Brandon’s mother Brenda, his siblings, his daughter and all of his loved ones. May God bless the family.”

This is a tough time for Rickey Smiley, who had asked his fans to pray for his wife, Brenda. In an Instagram post, Smiley captioned it by saying, “I lost my oldest son #BrandonSmiley this morning. I’m okay, but please pray for my son’s mother Brenda, his siblings and his daughter Storm.”

There is no doubt that Rickey, too, is heavily grieving but is trying to stay strong for the rest of his family. Smiley spent his entire life dedicated to making other people laugh and making them forget about their troubles.
