Arenas believes that if the financial aspect worked out, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets would be better off trading their Superstars. He wants LeBron James to play alongside his former teammate Kyrie Irving and All-Star forward Kevin Durant. He also comments on the draft picks in the NBA and calls the picks a “fool’s gold”. His reasoning is that picks aren’t equal in value to that of the superstars.
The trade proposed by Arenas involves trading Kevin Durant for Anthony Davis and some other ancillary pieces in the mix, along with a trade for Westbrook involving Kyrie Irving. He believes that barring any financial complications, this would work out for both parties.
The Nets would have Westbrook, Ben Simmons, and Anthony Davis. He explains that in Brooklyn, Westbrook would get to be himself and perform at OKC levels. The Defensee would be fortified with Simmons and Davis. With three All-NBA players, the team would still have been well suited to make a title run.
On the Laker’s side of things, the team would have the greatest trio ever to set foot on the court. The trio would have a combined 37 x All-star and 31 x All NBA selections. The basketball IQ and the team-first attitude of the King combined with KD’s offensive prowess and Kyrie’s ball handling would have been a deadly combination.
