Kareem Abdul-Jabbar slams Donald Trump amidst ongoing controversy
In his recent blog article, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar addressed giving media coverage to entities with controversial opinions. He used Donald Trump, Kanye West, and a few others as examples. The NBA legend then touched on the notion that giving media attention would feed the fire instead of tackling it. Despite this, Abdul-Jabbar stated that this should not stop anyone from criticizing an individual or calling them out for their mistakes.
The Los Angeles Lakers legend then talked about the 2016 Presidential election and how Trump’s election despite his controversial antics baffled him. He stated, “However, I learned my lesson in 2016 when I laughed at the prospect of a crooked buffoon like Donald Trump being elected.”
He explained that he thought Trump’s supporters will abandon him whenever a new revelation about his misdoings come to light. Abdul-Jabbar further claimed that the validation from the public gave Trump courage to double down on his wrongdoings.
The six-time NBA MVP wrote, “Emboldened by no accountability, he shredded many government regulations, installed incompetents in major positions, admitted lying to Americans about COVID— thereby allowing them to die, rammed unqualified Supreme Court justices that are undermining the Constitution, and just last week suggested doing away with our Constitution so he could be installed as president.”
