With the NBA season not far off, each team will look to compete for the throne. However, only one can organization can come out on top. For Damian Lillard, he has never had the chance to compete. The one time he did was with Team USA and he had quite a funny incident while celebrating.

After the USA beat France in the Olympic final, their dressing room was in celebration mode. Likewise, everyone was prepared to spray champagne. Even Dame, but he struggled to do it. This is when Draymond Green came in to aid his teammate, showing him how it is done. Recently, Dame spoke about this incident.

Damian Lillard awfully honest

Lillard was one of the most exciting players last season. He didn’t fail to make the highlight reel now and then. But, his loyalty to Portland hasn’t paid off in terms of championships. Hence, he even comprehended leaving them, which still could be on the table.

So, when asked about Draymond helping him out, he gave a straightforward answer. Dame said: “This is what it looks like when you haven’t won a championship. I haven’t won yet & Draymond has won 3…After we won the gold everybody is spraying champagne, I don’t have much experience at it so I needed the champ to assist me.”

While it seems comedic at first, Lillard speaks from the heart. He has laid it all out for Portland every single season. But he has never even made a single trip to the finals. Lillard has just one Conference finals appearance under his belt through his NBA career.

Green, on the other hand, has been a part of the Golden State Warriors for all his career. Not only did he win 3 titles, but he also was part of the famous 73-9 team. So it didn’t come as a surprise that he knew exactly how to spray the champagne, and helped his friend out, who never got the opportunity to celebrate before.

The 31 YO guard might make a move away from Portland this season, but his recent Instagram post says otherwise to that idea. Could he win without leaving?

Can Portland win?

While the Trailblazers are a great team, they are far away from winning. Even though they have talent, the surrounding teams are full of big names. While age is catching up to Dame, he will most likely leave when his contract is up with them.

But for Portland, they still need time to develop into a championship team. If and when they do, it is most likely that Lillard will not be a part of it. Hence, there isn’t much hope for Portland to win this season.

Do you think Portland can make it to the finals with Damian Lillard most likely staying? Let us know your views in the comments below.
