Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal‘s ex-wife Shaunie is less than four months away from celebrating her first wedding anniversary with her second husband, pastor Keion Henderson. The television personality re-married almost eight months after Keion had popped the question to her in November 2021. They tied the knot at the Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club in May 2022 in the presence of their loved ones. About three days before Shaunie and Keion exchanged their vows, the former discussed a few things related to her ex-husband with her two close friends that clarified where Shaunie’s heart was.

In an episode of Shaunie and Keion’s Destination I doShaunie and her friends, Jackie and Evelyn, took some time to chat about the upcoming wedding. They then eventually got to talking about a particular NBA legend.

Shaunie Henderson revealed Shaquille O’Neal was okay with her re-marrying

A curious Jackie asked Shaunie how her ex-husband, Shaquille O’Neal, honestly felt about her getting re-married. Shaunie replied, “He said he is,” indicating that the Lakers legend had accepted the couple. 

However, Evelyn then chimed in, jokingly adding, “And if he ain’t? Too bad!” Shaunie, however, simply shrugged, seemingly agreeing with Evelyn, while Jackie responded, “You can’t catch us in Anguilla baby because we got three days.”

Shaq’s ex-wife dropped her surname from a previous marriage

Shaunie married NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal in 2002, four years after the couple began dating. Seven years later, Shaunie filed for divorce due to ‘irreconcilable differences,’ and they were officially divorced in 2011.

Even after separation, the Basketball Wives star opted to keep Shaq’s surname. Eleven years after her divorce from O’Neal, she changed her surname after marrying Keion Henderson.

The mother of five talked about her decision to keep her ex-husband’s surname after the divorce. She also revealed why she chose to drop it following her marriage to Henderson.

“I’ve had O’Neal as my last name since 2003. And getting divorced with very small children, I kept it for the sake of my kids. Changing my name lets me start all over and I feel like a whole new person,” said Shaunie.
