NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe reacted to Brooklyn’s defeat against the Cavaliers. He stated, “I don’t feel as strongly as I once did. For the simple fact, their defense is worse than I thought it would be. If you are this bad defensively in the regular season, it’s hard for me to see a scenario in which you pick it up and you get exponentially better come playoff time.”

When the Nets traded for Harden, their offensive power was lifted to another level. In fact, they are definitely the best offensive team in the league. However, it came at the cost of their defense. Shannon said:

They made the worst offensive basketball team look like the 2017 [Golden State] Warriors out there last night… Collin Sexton did that. That’s not Jayson Tatum, that’s not Joel Embiid, that’s not LeBron James, that’s not Kawhi [Leonard], that’s not Paul George. You’re absolutely right, Collin Sexton looked like Steph Curry.”

Although it was just the first game the trio played together, it has left everyone wondering if this was the right move for the Nets. Prior to getting Harden, they had a better all-around team, but now they have become one dimensional.
