“Delete the Tweet and Apologize”: NBA Fans Explode on Celtics All-Star After Major Kyrie Irving Support Takes a Surprising Turn

Kyrie Irving has finally returned to the Brooklyn Nets after missing eight games. The Brooklyn Nets star joined his teammates on Sunday night against the Memphis Grizzlies. However, that was not the only highlight of the night. Before the game began, the outside of the arena was filled with what seemed like Kyrie Irving supporters. Boston Celtics star and NBPA vice president Jalen Green took to Twitter to post the spectacle. While his intentions were probably good, Green only garnered negative attention from fans online.
The Brooklyn Nets faced the Memphis Grizzlies on November 20, 2022. The game marked Kyrie Irving’s return to the court after remaining suspended for about two weeks. The game took place at the Barclays Center, the Nets’ home court. Hours before the game started, a large crowd gathered outside the arena to show support for the Nets guard.

Probably impressed by the huge turnout, Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Green tweeted a short clip of the crowd. However, things turned sour for Brown when fans accused him of “promoting” a group called Black Hebrew Israelites.
I was not aware of what specific group that was outside of Barclay’s Center tonight. I was celebrating the unification of our people welcoming the return of Kyrie to the court, first glance I thought it was a known fraternity the (C/Que’s) Omega psi phi (step’n) showing support
— Jaylen Brown (@FCHWPO) November 21, 2022
Brow posted a follow-up tweet stating that he was not aware of the identity of the group. Additionally, he stated that he was only celebrating the show of support that the crowd presented for Irving’s return.
Celtics star misunderstands Kyrie Irving supporters
Several weeks ago, Kyrie Irving had become the primary target of criticism after he shared a link to a film that contained antisemitic tropes. As a result, he had to face suspension and had to perform a series of tasks to be able to get back on the team. Irving’s suspension finally ended when he played for the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night.

While the heat from Irving significantly reduced, fans’ attention turned to Jaylen Brown for his recent tweets. Despite apologizing for the misunderstanding, he was not spared from the criticism.

Then delete the tweet and apologize

Nowhere in this tweet does Jaylen Brown state that he disagrees with or disavows that group. Because he doesn’t.

I really hope someone in your life that you’d listen to sits your ass down for a talk soon. As much as you’ve stepped up on the court you’ve regressed off court in a way that troubles and disappoints many of us deeply. I really expected better from you before.

Lol I my opinion you knew what you were doing. Also thought you could get away with this by using some ridiculous mixup exhaust. Hopefully @ADL and @NBA hold you to same standard as Kyrie. Only I post this after all that has happened?? Sickening

wow it’s almost like blindly tweeting support for kyrie irving without taking five seconds to look into what you’re supporting isn’t a good idea right now. who would have thought.

This is why Kyrie was in the situation in the first place … lack of awareness of what you’re putting out there. Gotta be more careful 🤭🤭🤭
