As witnessed, athletes are often very attached to playing for the hometown teams. LeBron James’ determination to bring the Cleveland Cavaliers an NBA championship is a clear indication of that. And now with the offseason, DeMar DeRozan is showing the same symptoms of love for the Los Angeles Lakers. While the Lakers have been trying to court DeMar for a while now, it seems like it might finally come true. In fact, DeMar would be thrilled about it.
DeMar DeRozan’s opinion on playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis
The Lakers and DeMar have come close to joining forces on many occasions. Back in 2016, DeMar DeRozan was a free agent and the two began flirting, but the purple and gold didn’t go through with it because Kobe Bryant had just retired. So, he ended up back with the Toronto Raptors.

Then sparks about the two getting together in the last offseason season started going off, but the Lakers went in a different direction. They acquired Dennis Schroder instead. And now that the franchise is trying to make their big comeback next season, they want him on the roster.
DeRozan has grown up in Southern California which makes this offer more enticing for him. He recently admitted on Club Shay Shay, “You’d love to have the opportunity to play at home, especially if they want you, why not? I think it would work [between me, LeBron & AD]. We’re smart basketball players and it’s all about coming together.”

How can the Lakers make this happen?
The Lakers are in a tough spot when it comes to cap space. However, giving up Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Kuzma could help in bringing in DeMar. But is this the best option?
Their dynamic duo, LeBron James and Anthony Davis need more players with perimeter shooting. But if they bring in a player who struggles from the arc, Frank Vogel will have to come up with a different offensive strategy altogether.

If DeMar makes contributions without the ball as well, this could be a very successful deal for the team. What are your thoughts on this possible outcome?
