To many, 32-year-old DeMar DeRozan is the future of the Chicago Bulls. Having been compared by several pundits to the legendary Michael Jordan, DeRozan has staked his claim as one of the elite forwards of the league. Interestingly, however, the starlet has a unique connection with MJ, that dates back to last year. In fact, the connection relates to Juanita, Jordan’s ex-wife.

Winning 6 titles during his illustrious career, Michael Jordan has given so much to the franchise of Chicago Bulls. Along with the likes of Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman, he set the bar extremely high for the next generation.

During this journey, however, ex-wife Juanita Vanoy also played a massive role. The couple, who were married from 1989 to 2007, decided to call it a day fifteen years ago. Yet, they had three children along the way, and their divorce was one of the most expensive in sports history back in the day.

DeMar DeRozan’s and Juanita

Since the pair’s split, Juanita is believed to be leading a life with a relatively low profile. The divorce settlement reportedly paid her over $160 million, along with a 7-acre mansion too.

Speaking of mansions, Juanita had sold a 6 bedroom mansion in 2021, located in River North. It was a massive piece of property, which even had a historic connection with a former Chicago player. And the apparent buyer was none other than DeRozan himself.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the 5-time All-Star acquired the mansion from His Airness’ former wife for $4.5 million. The house was originally purchased in 2007, until DeRozan took ownership last year.

Additionally, Jimmy Butler is also said to have a property in the same neighborhood, worth 10,000 square feet. As a result, not only does DeMar have a connection with Juanita and MJ, but also with Butler.

Although this is news, few people know about the deal. After all, the DeRozan-Jordan connection goes beyond merely the statistics.
