There is no debate Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest players the NBA has ever seen. Apart from his basketball skills, his mentality made him greater, which was quite evident from his conduct on the court. Bryant was known for not getting into useless fights and altercations that would hamper the game.
However, Kobe was not perfect. There have been moments when Kobe absolutely lost his cool. One such moment came against Chris Childs of the New York Knicks, who got into a fistfight with Bryant.

Apparently, despite their fight on the court, the two players were always on good terms. Childs revealed the details regarding their relationship in a recent interview and also mentioned how he has bad blood with the great Michael Jordan.

Despite being one of the calmest players on the basketball court, Kobe once lost his cool. This came against the New York Knicks on April 2, 2000. Interestingly enough, this was the first fist fight of Kobe’s career. Talking about whether they had a beef around that fistfight, Chris Childs revealed all the details.

He said, “No, it was never, you know, it’s just something that happened. We let bygones be bygones. The only beef I had was with MJ and Tim Hardaway. Tim and I, we never see eye to eye to this day because he made some comments thing last year about if he saw me we would fight. Like, come on man.“

The altercation started when Bryant elbowed Childs coming off a screen. This wasn’t taken well by Childs who went on to exchange a few words. This is where everything went south. The two shoved each other and got into each other’s faces and Childs landed two punches around Bryant’s chest and neck.

Kobe Bryant was not one to hold back. He reacted with a punch before the officials and teammates separated the two. Furthermore, the officials ejected both the players shortly after. While Kobe Bryant faced a suspension of one game, Chris Childs was suspended for two games owing to his actions.
