Shaquille O’Neal is not only one of the most successful basketball players of all time, but he is also one of the richest. The 7’1″ giant has built a great business empire for himself and has accumulated a lot of wealth along the way. O’Neal is a philanthropist who gives back to the community.

The four-time NBA champion never forgets his roots and takes care of his family. Recently, O’Neal splashed big money to renovate the house of his uncle Roy. Even though uncle Roy had initially refused to accept even a dollar from his millionaire nephew, Shaq eventually convinced him with the help of his mother and sister.

Shaquille O’Neal decided to renovate the house of his uncle for an episode of Secret Celebrity Renovation. O’Neal teamed up with Nischelle Turner, Rob Mariano, and Sabrina Sato to give back to his uncle. Shaq’s mother, Lucille, was also present at the house to make sure things went smoothly.

Before they could begin, Turner asked Roy, “I need to make sure that you’re okay with Shaquille doing whatever he wants to do in your house?” to which the uncle replied, “One hundred percent. Whatever he wants to do, I’m down with it“. O’Neal was excited about the developments and stated, “The fact that I can do this for my uncle and make my uncle and my mom happy, it’s a big thing“.

Uncle Roy had previously refused to let O’Neal renovate the house. He had even declined to take any money from his nephew, stating that it was his hard-earned money. It took O’Neal’s mother and sister to finally convince uncle Roy for the renovation.

Uncle Roy is special to Shaquille O’Neal

While O’Neal has performed various acts of kindness over the years, this one was particularly special for him. O’Neal always shared a special bond with his uncle. “He used to always take care of me, always babysit me. He never asked for anything, not a dime“, O’Neal revealed.

O’Neal continued, “I figured, all the relatives I’ve taken care of are spoiled. Let me do something nice for uncle Roy“. The Los Angeles Lakers great has established himself as an extremely likable personality over the years.
