Michael Jordan had one of the greatest careers an NBA player can ever wish to have. He has won six NBA championships and is a five-time regular season MVP. But, he had his demons too. His marriage to Juanita Vanoy failed spectacularly. It was later revealed that Jordan cheated on her and in the end, she had to leave him due to their “irreconcilable differences”.

Jordan and Juanita met at a Chicago restaurant when she was a loan officer at a bank and he was already destined to be an NBA superstar at the time. They got married in September 1989. The story was that Juanita had prepared a pre-nuptial agreement alongside her lawyers but instead of finalizing it, she and Jordan went to Las Vegas along with some friends.

There, Jordan took the hasty decision of marrying her instead. After everything, her lawyers drafted a postnuptial agreement which was signed by both of them in 1991 after a pretty long battle between both of their lawyers.

Their eventual divorce was one of the biggest divorce settlements at that time. Their breakup created ripples far bigger than they anticipated. It arguably destroyed any pretensions the public had of the Chicago Bulls legend as a family man.

Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy have since moved on

Michael Jordan has moved on since then and has since gotten married again, to Yvette Prieto. Juanita raised her kids and has said that she is in a good place now. She has her interests and hobbies which include art collection and traveling. Juanita is also a part of a program that empowers teenage girls. She is also the president of the Vanoy Jordan enterprises.

Juanita also rejected a reality show offer and had instead focussed on these interests of hers. Being Mrs. Michael Jordan undoubtedly wasn’t easy. The couple mutually decided to file for divorce on December 29, 2006, after 17 years together.
