NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is someone who always speaks his mind. Even though the fans usually love that, it has landed him in hot water with many in the NBA community over the years. Notably, the Big Diesel has had some serious feuds with young stars like Dwight Howard, JaVale McGee, Rudy Gobert, and Kevin Durant. Among these stars, his feud with Howard has been on for years now. However, Shaq was forced to apologize to Dwight Howard recently after his mother, Lucille O’Neal, reprimanded him for his actions.

Recently, O’Neal made some funny remarks about Howard playing in Taiwan and the NBA star hit back. Now, the former MVP has apologized to Howard for his comments after his mother “scolded” him for his actions. Incidentally, the feud between the two stems from Shaq not liking Howard using his nickname ‘Superman’. And the incident snowballed from there.

Shaquille O’Neal apologizes to Dwight Howard after being scolded by mother Lucille O’Neal

Shaquille O’Neal was back with another episode of ‘The Big Podcast’ with co-hosts Nischelle Turner and Spice Adams. He was back after spending a Thanksgiving weekend in the Bahamas. During the show, he apologized to Dwight Howard for his past comments.

Shaq stated, “And I got scolded by mom yesterday for messing with Dwight. So Mr. Dwight Howard I owe you an apology and I will never hurt your feelings again.”

NFL veteran Adams joked about his apology. However, Turner added, “When Dr.Lucille says something then you just, you do what you are supposed to do and you make it right.” Shaq replied, “Correct. So Dwight I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings.”

The Los Angeles Lakers legend has always been vocal about the help he got from his parents. They were influential in his success on and off the court with their strict parenting. While his father, Phillip A Harrison, was stern, Shaq’s mother Lucille was the peacemaker. Despite his wealth and legendary status, the Big Aristotle’s mother still keeps him in check in case of transgressions.

Also, this is not the first time Shaq’s mother has had her say in ending a beef. When O’Neal’s dispute with JaVale McGee became ugly, Lucille O’Neal and McGee’s mother intervened. The mothers spoke with each other and ended the feud.

O’Neal’s comments on Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard recently signed with Taoyuan Leopards in Taiwan’s T1 League. In his first game, the eight-time NBA All-Star dominated with 38 points and 25 rebounds as he helped his team win 120-115 against New Taipei CTBC DEA. While many were impressed with his performance, Shaquille O’Neal was not.

When asked about Howard’s performance during the podcast, the former MVP stated that is something that should be expected of Howard because of the level of difficulty of the league. “This league reminds me of the Life Time Fitness league every Saturday when I go workout on Saturdays,” O’Neal said.

This did not sit well with Howard so he went on Instagram Live and shared a lengthy response. He asked Shaq to not hate and added his comments were disrespectful to his teammates and the people of Taiwan. Now, the four-time champion has apologized.
