Edrice Femi Adebayo, famously known as Bam Adebayo, has an interesting story about how he got his nickname ‘Bam’. Almost every player in the NBA has a nickname. Either the teammates, fans, or family members tend to give the nicknames which describe the personality, gameplay, or something that sets the player apart.

The tradition of giving nicknames to NBA players has been in existence ever since the very inception of the league. But not only the fans, his teammates have also wondered what led to the birth of the nickname ‘Bam.’ And safe to say he has had some jokes about it as well. But the real reason behind Adebayo’s name is something totally unrelated to basketball.

One would think that ‘Bam’ would probably mean something to do with the explosiveness of the 6’9” center. However, that is nowhere near the case. He told the actual reason for his nickname. He said, “I was a big a** kid. I got it because I flipped over a coffee table at like one year old. I’m not making this sh*t up, and my mom just ever since then that has been my name. She (Mom) told me I was watching The Flintstones, so I was copying what he was doing.”
