It’s been almost a year since Will Smith infamously slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars while defending his wife, Jada Smith. At the time, the incident became one of the most viral moments of the decade. In fact, the iconic shot of Smith slapping Rock still reverberates through the internet. Likewise, every big name with a platform then reacted to the incident and hurled their opinions on the issue. Similarly, NBA stars also spoke their mind on the matter. Most notably, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green had a very bold take against the comedian’s jokes. Rock and Green haven’t been on the best of terms, and it was more evident than ever in Rock’s latest venture with Netflix.

After months, Chris Rock finally broke his silence on the altercation at his live Netflix special, Selective Outrage. As usual, the legendary comedian packed his set with hilarious bits. However, amid the harmless jokes, Rock enacted an extremely polarising piece on Draymond Green in one of the segments.

Recently, Chris Rock came out with a live Netflix Special (the first of its kind, as it premiered live) from a Baltimore Show titled Selective Outrage. In the much-anticipated special, the decorated comic finally addressed his viral altercation with Will Smith from a year ago. However, he saved his bottled-up rage for the end of the show. Meanwhile, Rock cycled between hilarious bits and bold digs at certain big names for most of the show.

The veteran comedian took shots at 4x NBA champion Draymond Green in multiple segments. However, in one particular bit, the legendary comedian seemingly went too far with his brazen remarks. While addressing his loneliness six years post-divorce and harping on his single life, Rock slipped into a hilarious monologue about how he couldn’t sleep one night. He further touched upon the sentiment that there was a certain value added by his ex-wife to his life, that he only noticed after their separation.

However, the butt of the joke was far from a harmless punchline. He said, “The other night, I am trying to get some sleep… couldn’t sleep. Suddenly it dawned on me, this pillowcase is filthy. Are we supposed to change this? I flipped it over, it was black and greasy, I was like did Draymond Green sleep on this?…”

Needless to say, apart from Smith, Green was also a prime target for Rock’s scathing and disparaging remarks that night. Interestingly, their beef can be traced back to when Green issued a very polarising take on the incident, almost in defense of Will and Jada Smith and against Rock. However, the 4x All-Star claimed for it to be an unbiased opinion at the time.

Chris Rock drags in Stephen Curry

In a similar light, Rock also dragged Green’s teammate, Stephen Curry, into one of his jokes. Very bluntly, Rock made a joke about the former Defensive Player of the Year’s ‘redbone’ complexion while juxtaposing him against the reigning Finals MVP.
