The LA Lakers are still struggling. Tonight, the Lakers lost their fourth straight game, this time against the Utah Jazz, 114-89. It was a poor performance from the Lakers, who got outshined by Utah. While Utah has the best record in the NBA, it was still a shock to see the defending NBA champions perform so poorly. This loss was the biggest Lakers’ loss of the season so far.

Twitter has fun over Lakers’ loss

The Lakers have been without Anthony Davis and Dennis Schroder this past week, and that has affected them tremendously. The absence of two key players has forced LeBron James to carry much of the offensive load. James is now trusted with being the primary scorer and facilitator for the Lakers, and the team just hasn’t responded.

The NBA world had a field day at the Lakers’ expense on Twitter. Many poked fun at how poor the Lakers have been without the duo of Davis and Schroder. There was sympathy for LeBron James, who is being trusted to carry this team in the absence of his two best teammates. However, not everyone was sympathetic, as some found joy in the King’s misery.

Currently, the Lakers are enduring a poor spell of form. The loss against the Jazz was their fourth consecutive loss and their fifth loss in six games. Without Anthony Davis to take the load off of LeBron’s shoulders, the rest of the team is struggling. The absence of Dennis Schroder has not helped, who can also contribute with points and assists during a game.

LA Lakers looking for a turnaround

Currently, the Lakers are 22-11 with the third seed in the West. They will hope to turn their record around, as teams like the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers are quickly creeping up on their record. A low seed could spell disaster for the Lakers, even if Anthony Davis returns in time for the playoffs this year.

Can the LA Lakers turn their season around? First, the Lakers will be glad to welcome back Dennis Schroder next game, as he has completed his COVID-protocol isolation. However, the Lakers have to wait to bring Anthony Davis, given the severity of his injury. Davis is a star for the future, and they will forgo the NBA championship if it means him making a full recovery.
