Shaquille O’Neal has been introspecting a lot. He has shared his mistakes and been vulnerable. He has openly talked about them as well as he elaborated on regrets and past mistakes. In a PEOPLE interview, the NBA champion said divorce was definitely one on the list. In one of the episodes of ‘The Pivot Podcast,’ O’Neal discussed his relationship with his ex-wife Shaunie Henderson.

Shaunie Henderson stated Shaq’s verbal admission made her happy. She said, “I am happy that he’s able to share the truth of how he feels.”

Shaunie said that she doesn’t have an opinion about their marriage as she is living through a new chapter. Shaunie embraced Shaq’s truth and appreciated that he chose to share it.

O’Neal had said that the reason for their divorce was completely on him. Though he wouldn’t divulge details, he did say that he wasn’t “protecting” their vows. However, he has before admitted on his podcast that he had cheated on her. The former MVP said that he was bad and described Shaunie to be awesome.

Shaunie has moved on from Shaquille O’Neal

Shaquille O’Neal recalled how he felt lost after the divorce. Shaq revealed that he was being “greedy” and is aware that he “messed up”. The couple got married in 2002 and was in a union for nine years. They got a divorce in 2011. They share 4 children and Shaq has always given her credit for being a good role model and mother to his kids.

Shaunie is currently married to a Houston-based pastor, Keion Henderson. She was asked if she felt good that her former husband owned up to his faults and admitted his mistakes. Shaunie asserted that she doesn’t require validation of such nature. She said that she has her own accomplishments and has worked on herself. Shaunie clearly has moved on from her past marriage and even wants people to stop asking her questions regarding Shaq.

Last month, O’Neal described the mothers of his children as the “strongest beings on the planet.” With his co-parenting, he realizes the importance of the family and reflects on his relationships. All said and done, both Shaunie and Shaq remain cordial and friendly.
