NBA legend Shaquille O?Neal was not just an athlete. He was one of the most polymathic basketball players ever. Shaq has been a huge fan of music and movies while growing up. However, he concentrated on getting better on the basketball court. He soon became one of the top prospects in the country and the Orlando Magic drafted him as the #1 pick in the 1992 NBA draft. Even though there was a lot of hype around O’Neal, no one thought he would dominate the league to the extent that he did.

The towering center had one of the best seasons by a rookie ever and won the Rookie of the Year award comfortably. After stepping into the league, Shaq started to work on one of his passions, rap music. At the time, rap music was on its rise with some huge rap stars coming to the fore. It was during this time that rap music and basketball came together a lot of the times. The music inspired many young basketball players and the basketball stars inspired young rap artists.

And O’Neal wanted a shot at it. So in 1993, he released his debut album ‘Shaq Diesel.’?Despite receiving criticism for his rapping skills, the album received?platinum certification?from the?Recording Industry Association of America.

Receiving platinum certification for a debut album is no easy feat. Shaq’s association with rap music has helped him meet some legendary artists over the years. One among them was the late hip-hop icon The Notorious B.I.G., who had a good relationship with the Big Diesel. Recently, Shaquille O’Neal made an appearance on the ‘Drink Champs’ podcast and discussed various things. At one instance, he talked about Biggie and revealed some interesting stuff.

Shaq said, “BIG flew out, him and Lil’ Cease so I’m nervous and you know we go in the studio him and Lil’ Cease. He said, ‘Play it.’ So I played it and he started doing this, ‘Okay big dawg that’s tight that’s tight!’ And then I said, ‘Okay, he likes it. So I’m gonna let him and Lil’ Cease do their thing.’ And he went in there and he killed it, and the first verse, I’m the only one that got it and I’ll never play it. He went off!”

To have an unpublished verse from Biggie is unthinkable news for many fans. However, Shaq has refused to publish it for unnamed reasons.
