After getting suspended eight games for flashing a gun on his social media post two months back, Ja Morant again finds himself in a similar situation. A few days back, Morant reportedly held a gun during an Instagram live which stirred major controversy. The Memphis Grizzlies suspended him from all team activities after the shocking incident. During Ja’s previous suspension, his family has been a major support for him including his daughter Kaari Jaidyn Morant. But does he have custody of his daughter?

Ja and Kadre Dixon reportedly started dating in 2017 when Morant was still in college. They announced their relationship to the world in 2018 with a social media post. On August 7, 2019, they welcomed their only child Kaari Morant.

Does Ja Morant have custody of Kaari?

Ja Morant has a tattoo of his daughter’s birthday on his shoulder along with her footprints. The Memphis Grizzlies star announced the birth of his daughter a month later on September 17, 2019, via Instagram because Kaari was born prematurely due to her mother’s condition known as preeclampsia which was life-threatening. Ja and Kadre Dixon reportedly broke up after the birth of their daughter.

Kaari reportedly lives with her mother currently. However, according to a report from The Family Nation, Morant, and Dixon have joint custody of their daughter. Despite this, Kaari mostly lives with her mother – understandably, because of her father’s busy NBA schedule. So, the two-time NBA All-Star makes sure he makes the most of his time with his daughter. Also, the former couple is cordial in co-parenting their daughter.

Recently, she was in attendance at FedExForum for game-2 of the playoff series between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Lakers. Ja Morant missed the game while nursing a hand injury he sustained from game-1 after a scary fall. Kaari joined his father on the sidelines to support the team.

The Grizzlies responded to game-1 loss and won game-2 with a scoreline of 93-103. After the game, Kaari had some interesting words for the Grizzlies fans. Kaari and Ja Morant were interviewed on the court after the win at the FedExForum. The point guard held his daughter as she delivered one of her father’s famous one-liners. Kaari said, “There?s a parade inside my city, yeah.”?Ja and his teammate Jaren Jackson Jr. were hyped hearing Kaari’s words after the win.

Ja Morant’s gun controversy

Ja Morant apologized for the gun controversy and the suspension ahead of his return two months back. He stated that he would be more responsible. According to a report from CNN, “I?m completely sorry for that [his ban],” Morant said. “So,?my job now is, like I said, to be more responsible, more smarter and don?t cause any of that no more.”

So far, there have been no comments from Morant yet about the recent incident and the subsequent suspension by the Memphis Grizzlies. As it has been just a couple of months since the first issue, many feel Morant could be suspended for a longer duration this time. Furthermore, there is also a possibility of his endorsement deals taking a hit because of the controversy.
