Millionaire rapper Drake shares an interesting relationship with the NBA and its fans. While many love his antics on the touchline and off the court, some find him incredibly irritating. Moreover, he has a lot of basketball references in his songs. Whether it is LeBron James, Stephen Curry, or Kobe Bryant, Drake has used them all.

Interestingly enough, one of his references involving Kobe and his wife, Vanessa Bryant, got Drake into trouble. The situation got so messy that the rapper had to apologize for his words.

The song ‘Stay Schemin’ had the following lyrics, “Kobe ’bout to lose a hundred fifty M’s/Kobe my n—a I hate it had to be him/B**ch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym.

This spelled trouble for Drake, as Vanessa Bryant did not take his references very lightly. Moreover, the song was released when Kobe and Vanessa dealt with a rough patch in their relationship, and there were reports of them heading for a divorce.

Vanessa said, “I love when immature kids quote a rapper that has never been friends with Kobe and knows nothing about our relationship. Just shows how gullible they are.”

“Since my husband isn’t friends with Drake, we received a text of an apology forwarded from his manager. It’s done and over with and it’s now time for people to THINK before speaking,” said Bryant.

Interestingly enough, the team which Drake endorses and supports, the Toronto Raptors was one of Kobe’s many playgrounds. He has delivered some of his most iconic performances in the NBA against the Raptors.

Drake honored Kobe Bryant in a special way

Drake was one of the millions of fans around the world who paid their respects to the former NBA champion after his unfortunate accident. The rapper has a huge basketball court in his house which got a makeover amidst the pandemic.

He added the numbers ‘8’ and ’24’, which Kobe wore during his brilliant career in the NBA, on the walls of the basketball court to honor the Los Angeles Lakers legend.
