It has only been a few days since Memphis Grizzlies‘ star player Ja Morant put himself in a controversial situation and his name continues to get dragged into discussions regarding questionable conduct. Morant was put under scrutiny for displaying a gun during an IG Live session. Following that, the Grizzlies announced the 23-year-old point guard’s suspension, and the league was prompted to launch an investigation into the matter. Recently, a particular NBA player gave his thoughts on Morant’s actions prompting him to draw comparisons between Morant and two of the best active players in the league.

Shortly after the franchise announced Morant’s suspension, the Grizzlies star released a statement taking complete responsibility for his actions. Furthermore, he informed fans that he would be taking ‘some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being’.

Warriors star sends a message to Ja Morant

In the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show?podcast, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green has quite a few insights to share on the Ja Morant controversy. Given the type of skills Morant possesses, Green believed that he has the capabilities to become the face of the NBA. However, doing what he recently did could very well stand in Morant’s way to greatness. Additionally, the 4x NBA champion said that the Grizzlies star needed to make the ultimate decision.

Green said, “The decision is up to Ja and I pray that he learned from it. So I feel like this is one of those things that is just bad enough where he’ll get through it and he’ll be fine. But it’s just enough to make you make the decision, to make you say ‘I’m choosing this path for that path’. It’s just enough.”

Furthermore, Green compared Morant to NBA superstars LeBron James and Stephen Curry, and said, “I’ll tell you what…you can’t be the face of the NBA putting the NBA in harm’s way. You can’t be the face of the NBA putting the NBA in a tough spot. LeBron James don’t put the NBA in a tough spot. Steph Curry don’t put the NBA in a tough spot.”

Update on the Morant controversy

Earlier it was announced that apart from the league, the police department in Glendale, Colorado will be launching a separate investigation as well. However, the law officials closed the investigations due to a lack of evidence against Ja Morant. In the statement released by the Glendale Police Department, the authorities stated that they were unable to determine any probable cause to file for charges.
