Brooklyn Nets are one of the premier stories of this offseason. First was the report of Kyrie Irving wanting long-term security and a super-max extension for this offseason. Then came the reports that he could opt out of his contract and become a free agent if he was not signed for the long term. Then came the news that Kyrie would play for the Nets this season. But then dropped the bombshell news.

After the Kyrie situation with the Nets had just simmered down, came the news that superstar Kevin Durant had also requested a trade. What was unique about Kevin’s situation was that just last season he had signed a 4 year $196 million contract extension with the Nets. This news came as a shock to many people. During mid-season, the Nets traded disgruntled player, James Harden, for Ben Simmons. Simmons is the former number one overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. But Ben never suited up for the Nets due to many medical issues.

Kevin Durant – An all important off season
Kevin Durant’s arrival and departure from Golden State Warriors elicited the same responses. Nobody ever expected Kevin Durant to join Golden State. And in 2019, nobody ever expected Kevin Durant to leave the Warriors. When Kevin and Kyrie joined forces in Brooklyn in 2019, it looked like there could finally be a dynasty coming out of the East. But the preceding three years have been nothing short of a disappointment.
The Nets are yet to qualify for the conference Finals.
