In the history of the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal is widely regarded as the most dominant player. He is known for his basketball skills and his ability to be unstoppable underneath the rim. During the 1992 NBA Draft, Orlando Magic selected him as the number one pick.

As soon as he entered the league, everyone could see the powerhouse Shaq was. He went on to win the NBA title four times, along with an MVP and three Finals MVPs.

After his NBA career, he continued to demonstrate his skills through entertainment and business. All these years we have seen his different sides, but have you ever heard him talking about something that made him cry? Especially if it was a movie?

Former NBA superstar shared a memory of his young age when he saw a movie that was so beautifully written that it made him cry. Shaq discussed a variety of topics on “The Big Barbershop Talk” episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq. Having just celebrated his 50th birthday, he talked about everything that is happening at the moment.

Among which Shaq talked about LeBron James’s potential to make the all-time scoring list. As well as who should be considered the greatest of all time? Additionally, emotional O’Neal, who admitted to never shedding a tear, revealed the movie that left him in tears in the podcast.

Shaquille O’Neal talks about a movie that left him in tears

Shaq discussed the movie, “Cornbread, Earl and Me” released in 1975, which made him cry in his podcast. Starring in the film were Tierre Turner, Laurence Fishburne, and Jamaal Wilkes, a former NBA player known as “Silk” to his fans. His reputation as one of the best small forwards in the NBA made him a household name. During his career, he won four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers.

Besides this, the movie was directed and produced by Joseph Manduke. It was based on the novel Hog Butcher by Ronald Fair from 1966. During the podcast, Shaq expressed love for the movie. His first response was: “I don’t cry, so I don’t have an answer for that.” He then gave his answer: “This is the movie none of you probably ever seen, but it did make me cry when I was young, Cornbread, Earl, and Me.”
